Dear Friends,
As February makes a hard right into our world and the piercing cold of the frozen tundra of our landscape continues to cry out for chicken soup and snuggles on the couch, I am reminded of Bear Energy, and the deep need for this...

From Jamie Sams Medicine Cards:
Bear
"To become like Bear and enter the safety of the womb-cave, we must attune ourselves to the energies of the Eternal Mother, and receive nourishment from the placenta of the Great Void. The Great Void is the place where all solutions and answers live in harmony with the questions that fill our realities. If we choose to believe that there are many questions to life, we must also believe that the answers to these questions reside within us. Each and every being has the capacity to quiet the mind, enter the silence, and know."
We have entered to this time of year when, in the NorthEast, Mother Earth aligns to this introspection. For eons, mystics of all traditions have taken versions of this inward pull into the Great Void. What mysteries can be understood when we quiet the mind and be still? And why do we run from this so often? Are we afraid of the answers that we may find? Or are we afraid that there are none?
Well, no matter how you slice it, winter is here, and the time is now to go within.
As you already know, One Yoga Center will be completely virtual for the month of February, while I take a short sabbatical. The Great Void has been calling me so, and while it will be difficult to go deep into it, I want to create space for some true healings and revolutions to occur. So for you, take some time to create a peaceful place to practice, surrounded by warm colors and calming tokens, and join us for our regular classes on our Zoom classroom, or order The Vault for unlimited access to over 140 yoga classes by One Yoga Center.
What else can you dive deep into for February? Meditation, Self-Study, Spiritual Practice, Yoga, Writing/Journaling and Gazing. Practices like Yoga Nidra, Restorative and Yin Yoga are perfect for introspective energy. And while binge-watching notable programs may sound tantalizing, I strongly urge you not to allow yourself to get tugged down into those trappings - no real work can be done in avoidance-tactics. But remember to allow for small windows here and there.
"Journey with Bear to the quietness of your cave and hibernate in silence. Dream your dreams and own them. Then in strength you will be ready to discover the honey waiting in the Tree of Life." - Sams
See you in the Spring...
